Dr. Andreas Ch. Hadjichambis is the Scientific Director of the Cyprus Centre for Environmental Research and Education (CYCERE) and the Biology Advisor at the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports and Youth. He is the Chair of the European Network for Environmental Citizenship (ENEC), which includes 88 Universities and Research Institutes from 39 countries and more than 130 academics, researchers and scientists. He is the Chair of the Cyprus Biological Society. He has taught for over 23 years from Primary School to the University level (Cyprus University of Technology). He has participated in a number of competitive European and national funding research projects such as ENVIROCITIZEN, ENEC COST ACTION, CO-REFLECT, PROFILES, PARRISE, MASS, FLORA, EYOIKO, OIKOAKT, LIFE etc. where, among other things, he had the opportunity to contribute to the development, research validation and evaluation of innovative learning material related to Biology and Natural and Environmental Sciences. Coordinated at European level the SIG for Environmental Education of ERIDOB (2015-2016). He was a member of the team of experts of the Ministry of Education and Culture, as a Content Specialist, for the development of Digital Educational Content for Biology. He coordinated, as National Coordinator at the Ministry of Education and Culture, all Environmental Education Programs operating in Cyprus Secondary Education (Golden Green Leaf, Globe, Eco-Schools, Young Reporters for the Environment, SEMEP). He has the Scientific Responsibility for the design, development, implementation and research validation of 16 Environmental Education Programs which are successfully provided by CYCERE. He is co-author of the 4 Biology Activity Books that are applied in the Secondary Education of Cyprus from the 7th to 10th Grade and the respective Teacher’s Guides. He has more than 179 publications. He has published dozens of articles in international scientific journals, dozens of scientific papers in international scientific conferences, 4 scientific books, 15 teachers’ guides as well as 4 poetry books. The scientific work of Dr. A. Hadjichambis has received many awards and distinctions in Cyprus and abroad.
